I spent 3 nights solo out in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of Eastern Oregon. I didn't see a single person until the third day, and it was really pleasant being able to enjoy the solitude of nature and take in the beauty of the area.
Taken during a 60 mile bike ride I did along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. It was a blistering hot day and I enjoyed a nice swim on the Snake River after three hours of riding.
This shot was taken during one of my first solo backpacking trips. I hiked up to an alpine lake after six hours of driving from Washington, and set up camp on the snow a little ways away from the lake. I woke up abruptly the next morning to the sound of a moose munching on bushes a few feet away from my tent. I calmly got out of my tent and wandered down to the water, where I watched a mama and young moose swim across to the other side of the lake.
I was on a two night solo trip through the Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho. I met two cool guys as I was setting up my campsite for the night. We went swimming and floated on the lake with our sleeping pads, and enjoyed fishing, catching a couple of trout for dinner that night.
